Funding and Rebates

1. Do I need a referral coming to the clinic?

No. You may make a referral by yourself. Of course, if you have an existing referral from a professional (e.g. GP, paediatrician), you may bring it to the assessment.

2. Can I just walk in to the clinic?

No. Please phone (02) 6278 3287 and make an appointment.

3. How much does the assessment and therapy cost?

Our hourly rate is $193.99, which is calculated according to the fees published in the NDIS guide price. Karen will explain and give you a copy of the fee schedule at the initial consultation.

4. Would Karen go to my child's preschool or come to my home to do therapy?

Home visits and school visits could be offered if needed. Karen will discuss with you at the initial consultation.

5. How many sessions would my child need for him/her to make progress?

Each child is different and has different types and severities of communication/feeding difficulties. Progress could be affected by the child’s behaviour, cognitive abilities, consistency of homework, etc. Your child’s progress is monitored closely, discussed and reviewed regularly amongst the speech pathologist and parents/carers.

6. What can I do if I am not happy with the service?

If you are not happy with the service, it would be appreciated if you could give us 2 business days' notice to request for a termination of service. This will also be discussed at the initial consultation.

7. Does Karen work at evenings or weekends?

No.  Karen is currently working Mondays - Wednesdays from 9:30am to 2:30pm.

What rebates are available?

  • Medicare

Karen Ip Speech and Feeding Clinic is registered with Medicare for clients who have Chronic Disease Management (formerly known as Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan) - GP Services. Your child's GP determines whether your child is eligible. Therefore, it is best that you consult your GP prior to Speech Pathology Assessment.

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

We offer services to clients whose NDIS plan is self-managed or plan managed.

  • Private Health Fund

Karen Ip Speech and Feeding Clinic is registered with most of the private health funds in Australia. However, we do not know the details of the client's cover. It is best for parents/carers to confirm with their own health fund whether all or part of our services are covered. We are unable to process private health fund rebates through HICAPS and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
